Touching the ocean

June 8th, 2017 at 05:13 pm

Yesterday, I arrived at my intended destination... about 2 days early. So, having some time, I figure I might as well check off one thing that's been on my bucket list, which is to touch the ocean.

Yeah, it sounds like a simple one, but I have never actually gone out into the edge of land before, and looked out into the infinite Atlantic... and just touch it.

However, achieving this turned out to be easier said than done. Mostly, it had to do with the atrocious lack of parking (without paying some crazy fee). Finally, I saw a place that I might be able to get away with it for free-ish.

I have to say, the beach is far bigger than I imagined. Also, I accidentally got my shoes drenched by the ocean. Luckily, as you guys know, I am used to wet shoes by now, and I was already prepared with a second pair to wear.

Yea! Everyone should visit the ocean at least once. Beach parking can be a bear, but it is fun to make the effort to find the free spots. From the video it sounds like it was windy and the water may have been a bit cool!

Aw that's awesome! I love the beach 🌊 and just realized that I'm lucky and take it for granted.
Your post reminds me of the first time I saw snow ❄️ I absolutely loved it. Though it was the first fall and not a lot, I've only seen it once in my life, I'd sure like to see it again.

    Thanks for sharing

That is amazing. I grew up with water so it's funny to hear someone say they finally touched the ocean. Wild. I probably was in the ocean by a couple of months.

I touched the Atlantic when I was four -- had my birthday party on the beach in St. Augustine, in fact! But I didn't touch the Pacific until I was in my late forties. I was at a conference in San Diego and made it a point to get to a beach to get my feet in the water!
