So I learned there is a term for describing the fear of spending money, and it's generally called
Chrometophobia. I really think it should be called Chrimataphobia though (the actual greek term for money), so that it does not get confused with Chrometophobia's original definition of the fear of colors... which apparently is also a legitimate phobia.I think I have a mild case of this. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing though. In fact, I think everybody should at least have a mild case of it. So what do you think? How bad is YOUR Chrometophobia?

I think a lot of it comes from money attitudes we see in our formative years and so on. I admit I am blessed to have very balanced parents. Frugality always meant abundance, to me, because that is what I saw. Overall, it's just hard to imagine a better money example. I was also never exposed to the idea that money is evil or the root of evil. (I saw that mentioned in the link).
Overall, I notice I don't have the same fears or beliefs about money that most do in our culture.

I'm thinking about having a less structured budget once we have more wiggle room. But I think I'm still a spender at heart, so I wonder if it'll end up going badly and I decide to just go back to a tightly controlled budget long-term. We'll see...
