Back again

January 6th, 2016 at 02:29 am

So, the temperature earlier in the mid day was like just below 40, and it is expected to get below 20 tonight. Winter time has definitely arrived here.

It's gotten to a point where my little heater can't keep up anymore. Of course, central heating is still set to 50 like I usually do every winter, and anyway, the HVAC in this new house isn't all that great to begin with.

So, after a brief mulling over dinner, I've decided to throw my mattress into my closet again, and bring my heater in there as well.

I'm sure you're all curious as to what the new space looks like, so I took this pic:

This is an unvarnished view of the current situation. To just get through tonight, I have done nothing else to the space other than to shove everything aside to make room for the mattress. Clearly, more work will need to be done to actually make it look nice and livable.

Well if I do anything more with this, I'll be sure to update. Sanity check: Yep, still crazy.

You are no crazy for doing this. Another member did it for a long time. Just make sure youbare getting air and there is no chance of co2 poisoning in any way.

Keep warm and cozy! If i didnt have a house mate i'd consider it.

Yeah, it was Tabs, but under a different name. So, Tabs, back in the closet again? I think you must take comfort from cozy spaces! My cat is like that, too. Smile And if it saves money -- hey -- awesome!

Kiki, you actually bring up an extremely good point, and CO2 poisoning is definitely a thing. I know this because I am certain I have experienced it. No, it's not like I was suffocating, but I was definitely have severe bouts of lethargy to forgetfulness. Like, way more than usual.

Fortunately, the closet has a floor vent, which should help. Unfortunately, the space is so small that the mattress is covering it right now. However, I am already looking into solutions to, say, have a bed frame of some sort so that it will not be covered up.

What's a bigger problem will be summer time, where there is no easy way to bring AC cooling into that space there.... Well, perhaps a mini-split system would work, but that's no easy task like installing a window AC. Furthermore, some minimal electrical wiring needed to power the AC seeing as how there are no outlets in there.

However, all this may be moot if I still decide to take the RV route. I am still not sure. I figure I will have a few months still to decide on what I want to do for cooling. But yes, very important point!

CB, I laughed in real life when I read that comment. However, since I like cats (and dogs too), I will take that as a compliment. Meow.

Anyways, amusing comments indeed. Thanks all.
