I am thinking about going to Virginia

I know I haven't been on for a little while, but I have a question for you guys.

In light of the protests and even riots going on in Charlottsville, Virginia, I am seriously considering joining the protesters (against the white supremacists).

For what it's worth, this can be done very cheaply as I live fairly close to that location, so the drive, especially in my camper car, would be very low cost.

Anyways, please feel free to let me know what you think of it.

It's a free country, your choice. I wish people could talk to each other rather than protest. I honestly would like to have a frank conversation with one of these 'white supremacists'. If we can seek to understand their point of view, we might have a better chance of changing their minds. You know a kind of counseling of sorts!

Friends, there is so much I could add to this post, however, I would bore the majority of readers within minutes.

Let me say, there is no talking rationale to supremacists of any sort. Their "ways, means, thoughts and ideas" are skewed toward what they believe is the best and most peace filled society...that, unto itself, makes them irrational.

We must all focus on our little portion of society. Hold ourselves accountable, love each other for our strengths and weaknesses and above all else, pray for wisdom, guidance and faith.

Creditcardfree you are right....but still...this happens before the events in many cases.......I'm not sure there was even a white supremacist group, some of these events are purely to incite racism and political division......and it works! All I'm saying is not to believe everything you see or hear even on the news!

I wouldn't go anywhere near it. People have died and been seriously injured. Why would you want to put yourself between hateful white supremacists and Antifa, which has been labelled as a domestic terrorist group by DHS? It's way too dangerous for the normal protesters.

Yes Robin, safety is a very important consideration here. That is why only people who are willing to take such a risk should go, and I am one of them.

However, due to that same risk involved, the group I have signed up with does not have any planned events there. So, it appears I will not be going to it anyway.

I believe it is important not to merely stand by when hate groups put on their ugly public display. Because if you say and do nothing, you're allowing this kind of repulsiveness to grow like a cancer. Especially with a prez who hasn't quite denounced them. While safety is important, so is a free society where everyone is equal. I would be proud of you, Tabs, if you participated in peaceful protests there. Godspeed.

As a regular UNPAID attendee at protests and rallies who knows many others, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the Craigslist ad was posted falsely for the sole purpose of sharing with skeptical people to prove there was no grassroots momentum. Believe me, there is!
