Incompatibility

December 27th, 2014 at 07:09 pm

I was going to start out by rambling about how materialistic this girl I know of, but the more I think about it, the more I realized that maybe that's still the norm. That perhaps I am the strange one.

I guess for a guy who has pondered about living in a van down by the proverbial river, my standards certainly doesn't quite match her more jet set lifestyle.

I have to keep reminding myself of this because when I get interested in someone, it's hard to see through the emotional fog so to speak.

It's a shame though, because I wish I could find somebody that is right for me. Somebody who sees frugality as a blessing, and not a curse.

I have a friend like you... he's both frugal and a really nice guy, and he'd so like to meet someone! Well, I just ran into an acquaintance of mine - she is also nice and I know her because we volunteer together - and something in my head clicked - I think they'd really like each other! I'm going to try to set something up after Christmas. Maybe ask your women friends if they know anyone?

    Thanks Rob. I'll keep trying.

Buendia, I have friends that tells me that, but they don't know anyone who is available and would be a match for me. Some of them also don't realize the uh depth of my frugality if you will.

It's OK, LuckyRobin. That was the whole point of switching to a new account, haha.

Hang in there. I firmly believe that men have a better pool to choose from than women do! Numbers alone are on your side! There are plenty of women who would appreciate a frugally-inclined man, though if you are really on the deep end, you may need to seek for common ground!

I thought you're writing style was familiar! Smile
There's someone out there - don't lose hope.

CB, what're you trying to say? Ok fine. I'll get an extra wide van so we can both squeeze in there. With a cat.

Thanks Texan. It was kind of an open secret anyway. I think some knew for a while, but meh it's like whatever at this point.

Like I always told my son... If you like who you are, don't change for others, you will find your tribe and sometimes it might be a while but get out into the world proudly. It was only after I started to actually listen to my own advice did I meet someone who was so much more compatible for me. I think part of the problem is that I'm quiet about my life and values so you don't really get to know me until you look closer. It's rather quite amazing to be seen by someone who has similar values.

Perhaps that one you are seeking is not ready for you yet...

Thank you for your thoughts on this, GL. I will do my best to keep that in mind.
