Some other things never change either

So I decided to take a picture of my dinner because I figure you guys might get a chuckle out of it.



The crazy part about all this was that I KNEW to check the meat for absorbent pads. I even TOLD myself, "Self, be sure to check the bottom of the meat for absorbent pads." I guess I must have been really tired for not one but TWO pads to slip by me entirely.

The bad part was that one of the pads actually ripped open, and I had to make sure I scoop out as much of that gunk out as possible. Bleh.

    I did that once a long time ago with a roast. There were two pads on the polystyrene tray. I didn't think to check for a third one. That wouldn't happen these days since I now season all sides of a roast, not just the top, but I still remember very clearly taking the roast out of the crockpot and finding it at the bottom. Fortunately it didn't burst. Unfortunately, I didn't notice before we ate the roast, only when I was cleaning the crockpot. No one got sick, though.

    Haha I can relate. In my defense though, they were kinda small pads that completely hid under the meat. Literally nothing was sticking out that indicated anything was there. From now on, I'm just going to flip the meat completely upside down.
