Tracking meds

October 23rd, 2024 at 02:58 am

So, I guess as a part of getting older, I really shouldn't be surprised about having to take medication on a regular basis.  I've mentioned this before, but the short recap is that I am Type 2 diabetic, and am having to take two kinds of medicine for it.  All this happened earlier this year.  Before, it was just one medicine, and it was easier to track.

But with two, somehow I now feel like I'm constantly watching the clock or something, and on some days, I am actually forgetting whether I already took which medicine yet or not.  Needless to say, I need to get much better organized.

Hence, the reason for this post: For those who take medication, how do you track your pills?

I recently bought one of those month-long pill cases, so I can track my daily medication intake.  I know this is a financial site, and it's not ideal to solve your problems by spending money into it, BUT if this somehow manages to fix my pill tracking issues, I would say it is completely worth the money.  I just got it a couple of days ago, and am hoping this works out.

And while typing this out, I just realized I also forgot my second blood sugar check.

Would setting daily timers on your phone help?

Use the alarm on your phone.
Pick times each day to do what you need to do, and set them.
Each time one goes off, set the next one before you take the action.

I make a checklist on a sticky note. I can take all my pills at once, one time per day. I have boxes that represent the pills and vitamins I take and I mark off as I take them. It's on sticky note and I put it on my mirror where I keep my pills. It's the best that I've come up with.

If you have an iPhone, you can use the Health app to track all your medication‘s. You can set it up to give notifications whenever you need to take a pill or check your blood sugar or anything else. Then you can mark it off as taken, which gives you a record over time of everything you have taken.

Hi all. I currently do track with alarms and timers on my phone yes. It works most of the time so I will keep using it. I am just looking for ways to improve said tracking.

Also, I am currently writing down which fingers I have already pricked on a scrap piece of paper. This also works, although it would be nice if there was a better solution than this. Anybody got any ideas?

I use the alarm on my phone.

There are also those pill dispensers that you can get for the days of the week and some are even divided into times of day if you need the visual reminder.
