Baby, it's cold out there!

December 16th, 2025 at 04:08 am

That arctic cold front has finally arrived and coming down like a hammer!  The rush hour traffic is made even worse from all the icing on the road, resulting in quite a few car accidents.

Also, the wind chill makes it feel even worse.  Interestingly enough, the wind was strong enough to rip my back door open, setting off my motion sensors, and sending me a stream of false alarms to my phone.  I can't have that.  Luckily, the fix won't be expensive at all, I just have to get around to it soon.

As I mentioned earlier, I hope Mother Nature decides to bless us with a bit of snow.  Where I am, we don't typically get snow, but if it's going to get cold enough to ice everything up, She might as well go all the way with a White Christmas!

Haha I would (figuratively) die if my winter is 97 to 100F. Moving would suddenly become a top priority!

But I get that you are also in Australia and this is actually your time for Summer.

I think snow is best experienced from afar. Up close, they gunk up everything. Your car takes on salt corrosion. You have to get up extra early to get your engines warmed up while you scrap the ice off with tiny little scrapers. You have to shovel it off your driveway. You have to wait for plows to clear roads to drive through them safely. People without the right kind of tires or even chains will slip and slide, greatly increasing your chances of car accidents. And heaven forbid if the roads ice up at night! It’s gotten to the point I don’t even bother going outside anytime the temp goes below 30F.
