Running out of meds

As I've mentioned before, I am a type 2 diabetic.  The only reason I am paying for this particular insurance company is because they had been allowing me to see this Endocrinologist I like for treatment.  However, as of January of this year, and without any warning whatsoever, this insurance company decided that they were no longer going to cover my doctor.

Oh, and it wasn't like there was even a clear, decisive notice either.  When I had asked about it, their response was, "Well, it's pending as we attempt to get regulatory permission from the federal government blah blah blah...."  To the surprise of no one, and after taking like 3 months to clear up, the insurance company finally came back and rejected not just MY Endocrinologist, but ALL Endocrinologists, so I can't even find an alternate.  In fact, you can't even see anyone listed on their website!

Since then, I am trying my best to make my medication last all year, but by my count, I'm going to run out on at least one of them by the end of November, possibly the others as well.  So, this Decemeber is going to be... interesting.

So, what do I do now?  Before my current Endocrinologist, I had gone to PCPs, and you know what they did?  They referred me to an Endocrinologist.

To add insult to injury, my health insurance company still takes my monthly premium with nary a protest.

    Oh no. What would the out of pocket cost be to see your endocrinologist? This would be a time to BTD because what else can you spend on if not your health? You won't be alive to enjoy your money.

    Oh, Tabs! I'm so sorry to learn this. You need to make sure you have those meds to keep your body functioning correctly. Sometimes insurance companies are a bane to our existence!

    I have allergies and asthma. I see the only allergist in the town that is closest. He's useless. As for prescriptions, I get this statement...have your pharmacy call in and we'll refill. Except when the pharmacy calls in, they are basically told no. I went to my PCP and explained the issue. The two allergy/asthma meds I am on was prescribed by the former allergist and since I'm doing well, this new one said he would keep me on them, but wouldn't write a prescription or have it sent to the pharmacy. So, my PCP will write these prescriptions for me.

    Thank you, DK. Luckily, I'm not entirely out of options. As you indicated, I can still try my luck with my PCP. Either way though, I'm dumping this company for good.
